The Northampton County school system has two high schools, two middle schools, and six elementary schools, an annual budget of approximately 24 million and a student population of approximately 3850.
This year the Northampton County School system was notified by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education that seven schools were classified as exemplary, two met expected growth, and one had adequate performance in the state's ABCs program. Northampton County High School-East was ranked 3rd among the state high schools in academic growth and it was presented a special banner by State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. Mike Ward.
These improved test scores throughout the school system are the result of hard work and on diligence on the part of the students, teachers, administrators, parents, and board of education members.
